In 2013, recognising the limitations of traditional recruitment methods that often overlooked candidates’ personalities and soft skills, we co-founded Yobber—a platform designed to transform the hiring process by integrating video applications. Our goal was to create a more efficient, fair, and engaging experience for both employers and job seekers, ensuring that hiring decisions were based on more than just a CV.
My Role & Responsibilities
As Co-founder, Creative Director, and Product Designer, I played a key role in shaping Yobber’s early vision and ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience for both candidates and employers. My contributions included:
● Creative Direction & Brand Oversight – Led the early creative vision for the platform and provided strategic feedback to the agency responsible for developing Yobber’s brand identity, messaging, and visual style.
● Product Design & UX – Designed and iterated on key user flows to make video-based applications intuitive and accessible.
● User Research & Testing – Engaged with employers and job seekers to understand their needs, ensuring the platform’s design and functionality addressed real recruitment challenges.
Solution
Yobber introduced a video-first approach to hiring, giving candidates a chance to showcase their personality, motivation, and communication skills beyond a traditional resume. Key platform features included:
● Video Applications – Candidates recorded responses to predefined questions, allowing recruiters to evaluate their fit early in the process.
● Employer Dashboard – A digital platform where employers could create job postings, receive and manage video applications, and streamline their hiring process.
● Candidate Portal – A user-friendly interface guiding applicants through video recording and document uploads.
